Tips to Conquer Spring Cleaning Like a Boss!

By Maid in Jersey City

It’s spring time! And while the weather outside is changing; your home is getting more cluttered and untidy by the day! So, as much as you may dread it, spring cleaning is on the cards and its best you don’t waste any time in getting started. Here are a few really great tips to help you prepare for spring cleaning and ultimately conquer it!

1. Make a List and Schedule

Rather than find yourself in a state of confusion as to what needs to be done and where to start, make a list of things to do and draw up a schedule to do them in a timely and orderly fashion. It’s easy to overlook certain areas of the home that should always be incorporated in your spring cleaning mission; hence, making a list certainly helps in being thorough and organized.

2. Keep Supplies on Standby

While you’re making a list of things to do, you might want to make a separate one for cleaning supplies and aids you’ll need. This ensures that you don’t waste any time running to the store to purchase cleaners or tools you don’t have. Some important cleaning aids include large garbage bags/boxes; various cleaners for floors, toilets, windows/mirrors, etc; mops, brooms and dust rags; and sponges, scrubbers and cleaning brushes.

3. Tackle Clutter First

In order to get your spring cleaning underway, you need to maximize your space and that means de-cluttering! A rooms looks twice as clean and neat when it is not cluttered so get rid of those little (or big) things that are no longer of use to you. Everything from old magazines and papers to broken appliances and unused clothes that are crowding your table tops, shelves and closets need to go! Spring cleaning will be a breeze once you’ve offloaded unwanted items.

4. Start Bigger Projects First

Don’t make the mistake of leaving big, dreaded cleaning projects last. It’s hard to feel motivated to tackle bigger cleaning tasks when you’ve been cleaning for hours (or days) and all you want is to be done with it! If you finish off the more challenging projects first, the rest will seem rather easy and motivate you to complete them.

5. Clean One Room at a Time

While you may think it makes sense to dust the furniture/fixtures/fans in every room and then vacuum the entire house, it’s not such a good idea. This is because spring cleaning involves paying close attention to detail and giving your home an overhaul clean. If you don’t clean one room at a time, you’re bound to overlook (or willingly ignore) many aspects of a room.

6. Don’t Rush

As much as you want to get it over with, spring cleaning isn’t really spring cleaning unless you do it thoroughly. It may take a few days but bear in mind that you’ll be 100% satisfied by the end of it. So, take your time in every room, keep your schedule and list nearby to remind you of your goal and clean away!
