FACTS ABOUT DISINFECTANT FOGGING
Your Sanitization Experts at Maid In Hoboken
What is disinfectant fogging?
Unlike conventional cloth-and-wipe disinfection services that only cover 35% of surfaces, our system addresses larger areas and all surfaces at home. Our electrostatic technology introduces negatively charged electrodes into our disinfectant, and when sprayed, the disinfectant is attracted to surfaces. With the improved coverage, we make disinfection more efficient.
But, is it safe?
Our antimicrobial solution is the same one they use in hospitals and government agencies. Rest assured it kills 99.99% of viruses, germs, and bacteria. Also, this solution is non-toxic and safe for children and pets.
How Does Fogging Work?
Chemical fogging is a fine mist that stays in the air for enough time to remove viruses and bacteria. Not only that, it also kills pathogens found on ceilings, walls, furniture, floors, and more.
This disinfection process can reach most nooks and crannies, so moving furniture is unnecessary.
Does It Take A Long Time?
The Centers for Disease Control recommends: “Cleaning visibly dirty surfaces followed by disinfection is a best practice measure for prevention of COVID-19 and other viral respiratory illnesses in households and community settings.”
In the case of a Deep Cleaning of your home (typically two-bed, two-bath), the fogging process takes approximately one hour immediately after the cleaning.
Note: During the process, everyone, including pets, should leave the premises to ensure the fog reaches every corner without disturbance.
The Difference Between Cleaning, Disinfecting, And Sanitizing
CLEANING
Cleaning only removes germs, dirt, and impurities from surfaces and objects. This process is done with soap or detergent and water. However, no germs are killed; surfaces are only cleared, and the risk of infection gets lowered.
DISINFECTING
Disinfecting does indeed kill microscopic organisms, as claimed on the label of your solution. The minimum level of effectiveness in a modern-day disinfectant is 100% killing of 6 log10 of an organism. A sanitizer is only required to reduce that 6 log10 down to 3 Log10. If we start with 1 million organisms on a surface, then a disinfectant must kill 100% of them; zero are left. A sanitizer only reduces the number of organisms down to 1,000 and does nothing about viruses and fungi.
SANITIZING
Sometimes confused with disinfection, sanitizing only reduces the growth of bacteria, viruses, and fungi. Rather than killing these microorganisms, this process keeps them from becoming a larger issue. However, this doesn't solve the problem completely. Disinfecting is needed in addition to sanitizing.
Benefits of Disinfection Cleaning
Touch Point Cleaning is a system of cleaning that focuses on high-traffic areas specifically “touch points”. A few examples of touch points are light switches, TV remotes, computer keyboards, doorknobs, appliance handles, elevator buttons. These are considered high risk areas to encounter disease, viruses, and germs.
First we perform a Deep Cleaning, along with our Touch-Point cleaning, of your home. For a typical 2 bed 2 bath home, the fogging process takes approximately one hour immediately after the cleaning. Yes, people and pets should leave the premises while the fogging takes place to allow the solution time to set without disturbance.
